Calvin O’Neal Jr.

The director, producer and editor always had a love for film and pursued his dreams at a film school in Chicago. But defaulting loans due to the recession in 2008 forced him to leave Columbia College Chicago, and he and his family moved from his hometown on the outskirts of Detroit to Shreveport, La. Far away from his comfort zone, Calvin forged a unique way into the post-production industry.

Taking advantage of Louisiana’s tax credit, Calvin would have an opportunity to cut his teeth on multiple independent films and participate in an assistant editing class that would shift his trajectory and put him on the path to joining the team who edited the Academy Award-winning animated short, The Fantastic Flying Books of Morris Lessmore. Since then, he has edited several Emmy Award-winning branded content pieces such as Chipotle’s The Scarecrow, and Dolby Laboratories’ Silent & Radio Flyer’s Taking Flight.

Most recently, Calvin’s ability to pivot and consistency in the following up moved him west to Los Angeles, where he would serve as the Editor for Disney+’s critically acclaimed reboot of The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder. (Oh yeah and we are DEFINITELY gonna talk about that Juneteenth episode!)
